Cagrilintide — amylin rather than GLP-1. Different lever?

Genuinely different, which is why the combination is interesting rather than redundant.

Amylin is co-secreted with insulin and acts on satiety and gastric emptying through its own receptors. GLP-1 does overlapping but not identical things through different ones. Two separate pathways converging on appetite means the effects can add rather than compete for the same receptor.

That is the rationale for pairing it with semaglutide, and unlike most stacking arguments on this site it is being tested properly rather than assumed. evidence: early reflects where that has got to.

It is the difference between a hypothesis and a marketing claim, and from the outside they are written identically.
